Ani ma shion (program reviews by my daughters p2)
By Stella @ age 11
I was recently asked to write a response to the Supernova Digital Animation Festival program: Kid Wonder. I found it riveting because of all the different styles and stories. My personal favorite animation was Roots by Ryan Gathorne. It had morally excellent storytelling, and was put together very well. It was a good message for kids. I also found it was simpler and easier to enjoy because there was no dialog.
I also enjoyed Go More Faster by Eli Ayres. It was absolutely phenomenal. I could barely believe just one person made it. The quality was great and it was very funny. It had the right amount of slapstick and a hidden message behind the burger corp. I interpreted it to be a metaphor for large businesses monopolising the economy.
The Beckman Incident by Jared D. Weiss and Best Love by Yiling Ao were fantastic. Was he allowed to cough?
I would like to mention that in First Class Ticket by Mike Schneberg when the robot jumped into the river all I could think about was all the fish that getting electrocuted. The entire time I watched Blip by Hannah Sun, I was thinking about screen addiction and then I realized all the hours the person spent animating that...on a screen.
My last mentions are that I liked the story of The Rotation by Hazhir As'adi. The main character getting a matching tattoo with a fox in Escape Velocity by Tamás Rebák, and that I would binge-watch Bill and Back by Olivier Brisson. I thought the style of ToGetHer by Fraser Ntukula looked like a GrubHub ad. This was a very entertaining program. I would definitely recommend other children.
