DENVER DIGERATI SPECIAL PROJECTS & EVENTS 2011 - 2016
Following a number of “ah-ha” moments realized through direct access to a new infrastructure of public LED screens and experimentation that defied the traditional content cycles the screens were designed for, Denver Digerati was officially adopted in 2013 as a brand for efforts intended to position digital animation as a new form of public art. A regularly occurring series of curated programs called Friday Flash emerged that year, presented free to the public through direct screen infiltration. The program concluded each year with a commissioned animation program, leading to a deep exploration of digital motion art, and the cultivation of an international network of artists and animators. This work eventually led to the formation of the annual Supernova Digital Animation Festival, the first festival in the world to focus exclusively on digital animation as a new, dynamic and rapidly evolving form or art.
