Shana Cruz-Thompson is an Aurora, CO based artist working in experimental photographic processes and integrated media. For three decades, photography has been her conduit to self-discovery and to the understanding of human nature's intricacies. Often engaging with personal photographic and 8mm video archives, her work explores memory function, confronts nostalgia, and examines the complexities of death, grief, and legacy.
Passionate about community outreach, Shana is the founder and director of Project Photo Op, a burgeoning nonprofit which seeks to empower youth through photography workshops, mentorships, and exhibitions. As the creator and curator of Vigilante Darkroom Zine, she highlights women working in analog, experimental, and alternative photographic processes through interviews, features, and collaborative research. Her love for writing and photography is shared as a contributing writer for Analog Forever Magazine, and she is currently working on a curatorial project for Night Lights Denver for 2023.
